NewBrain project, implemented by 10 organizations representing core logistic nodes of Adriatic Ionian transport system of 9 regions from EU and IPA countries, aims to unlock the potential for integrated intermodal transport, with particular reference to short sea shipping, and improve the connections between the main logistics nodes of the Adriatic Ionian area by strengthening the transnational coordination of key logistics and intermodal operators and enhancing their capacities to launch feasible investments. The NewBrain systemic approach will ease the capacity of partners to build long lasting cooperation frameworks to compete at EU level in the calls for grants for infrastructures and/or present the projects jointly as parts of a global project towards the EU financing institutions. A cooperation project as NEWBRAIN is the best framework to capitalize the previous projects that mapped the bottlenecks and defined the future traffic forecasts, but did not provide a global project to attract the funds and the policy priority to solve the current and potential bottlenecks. NEWBRAIN , characterized by common territorial challenge, competence and experience towards the development of the intermodal transport and logistics network in the Adriatic-Ionian area. Main NewBrain expected results are:
– increased level of transnational coordination on planning and implementation of strategic measures and actions to increase efficiency and intermodality, through the setting up of the Adriatic Ionian intermodal and logistic transport Forum and the adoption of the transnational strategy (WP T1.4)
– enhanced investment capacity to upgrade physical and non-physical infrastructures of logistic nodes to contribute to the smoothness of Adriatic Ionian transport solutions
– environmental sustainability of the Adriatic Ionian transport system focusing on the development of intermodal and low carbon solutions and innovations in each involved logistic node.
