Corporate social responsibility
Igoumenitsa Port Authority, through its operation and as an integral part of the local community, makes every effort to meet its needs. Α series of actions aimed at strengthening initiatives that promote culture, social care, education, support for socially vulnerable groups and support for institutions and services serving the citizen consists ports plan for corporate social responsibility .
The areas and actions are as follows:
Donations of materials: Services that operate within the port and enhance or complement their work. In healthcare units, institutions and services related to health care. Sponsorships involving clubs and support groups for vulnerable groups, as well as strengthening local social grocery stores. At schools and educational institutions. Promoting conferences for scientific issues. Sponsoring the Municipalities of the Prefecture of Thesprotia for the organization of cultural events and actions that promote culture. Strengthening actions relating to water sports.
Academic Student Practice: The Port Authority employs students of academic students and post-secondary education as part of their internship in acquiring a degree and acquiring work experience.
Educational Action “Knowing the Port of my City”: Igoumenitsa Port Authority, in cooperation with the Local Directorate of Education, aiming at the experiential acquaintance of children with the port and its functions implements the action “Knowing the Port of my city “, addressed to students of Primary and Secondary Education of Thesprotia. Action has been gradually established. The training program is divided into two phases and is accompanied by an informational leaflet titled “Knowing the Port”, which is provided free of charge. In the first phase, children visit the port areas and identify key parts such as the passenger station, mooring sites and general facilities. In the second phase, the children are led to the Central Passenger Hall, where a short presentation of the harbor’s history and port uses is made during its period of operation.
Quality assurance
1) EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) With the Decision No. 141/3 / 2-1-2017 of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy (ID No: 73346658-BF0), the registration of Igoumenitsa Port Authority, its place in the EMAS Register under the registration number EL-000112. The Port of Igoumenitsa is one of the few ports in Europe registered in EMAS and currently holds the international ISO 14001 environmental management certificate as well as the Port Environmental Review System (PERS) certificate.

2) Port Environmental Review System (PERS): Igoumenitsa Port has been certified by the Port Environmental Review System (PERS) by the ECOPORTS Issuing Body after approval by the Lloyd’s Register Assessor. Igoumenitsa Port Authority, in the framework of the design and gradual development of a modern nEnvironmental Management System according to ESPO / PERS and ISO 14001 standards, holds and maintains the corresponding certificates. In line with the requirements of the standards, the Environmental Policy is set out to set the strategic objectives for environmental management issues and the related commitments to implement them. The standards also define the planning for the identification, assessment and control of environmental hazards, as well as environmental programs for the definition and control of individual actions to improve the level.
3) ISO 9001: 2008 Igoumenitsa Port Authority established, implements and maintains a Quality Management System (QMS) whose efficiency will improve according to the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001, regarding Ship Load Services and Passenger, Vehicle & Cargo Handling in the domestic – foreign lines – cruise ships.
